Bay of
Plenty:
The Bay of Plenty is New Zealand's fastest growing and best-known
recreational area. It features one of the most beautiful beaches in the world,
often with very few people on it!
Tauranga, on a beautiful harbour, is the
fastest growing provincial city in New Zealand and one of New Zealand's
busiest ports. Mount Maunganui, across the harbour on a wonderful swimming and
surfing beach, is a bustling, up-market beach resort, with bistros and cafes
lining the beachfront and the harbour, lovely walking tracks, and salt water
hot pools. Papamoa is just along the beautiful white-sand beach, where there
are few crowds, and
Rotorua
is a 50 minute drive. The area is only 35 minutes by air and 2½ hours by leisurely
car drive from Auckland.
Recreation
The area offers an abundance of
recreation opportunities. It is a fun place
to be! From swimming to wind surfing, from
flying to
boating and, of course,
fishing. With lots of events happening all
the time: The Bay of Plenty offers
interesting things for everyone!
Weather
The ocean moderates the weather
here. It is the sunniest place in the North Island with an average of 6½
sunshine hours per day. Summer makes for lovely, long days on the beach, with
the seawater warm and pleasant. At night, temperatures cool down ensuring a
good night’s sleep. Winters have a few stormy, rainy days but are generally
warm and dry, similar to California.
In short:
The Bay of Plenty
is where everyone wants to be!
